Color Field & Minimalist Paintings

Along with simple imagery of my mid-century book covers and poster art, are these color field and minimalist, mostly geometric works. The variations of stripes and shapes seem limitless. I recently added tryptichs and multi-piece works, often with the surfaces made from scrap wood. I frame most of my work and this multi-piece format appealed to my love of woodworking and carpentry.

I love the idea early minimalists "made no attempt to represent an outside reality, (where) the artist want(ed) the viewer to respond only to what is in front of them. The medium, (or material) from which it is made, and the form of the work is the reality." Frank Stella perhaps said it best, "What you see is what you see."
